AAR :: #BREWRuck002 – A TON of Good Livin’ For A Purpose

1

Rucking through the Queen City for a purpose

What’s better than getting a bunch of Americans together to serve the community, get some exercise, support local businesses, and enjoy some craft brews?  Nothing that we can think of.

Approximately 35 participants gathered on the morning of May 17th to ruck for a purpose, and carry a ton of food to the Second Harvest Food Bank in the process.

The mission – collect non-perishable foods and deliver them to the food bank. Ruck a bit, fellowship a bit, drink a bit, and ruck some more – that was the plan of attack.

The weather was beautiful and spirits were high. Old Glory was well represented, leading the way – because we’re Americans and that’s how we roll.

We started the trek with donations from Swimmer Insurance Agency, Warco Construction, Charlotte Bridge Home, the F3 Nation, and all of the individual participants.

Rucks were full, coupons were heavy. There was plenty of suck to embrace, but always with a smile, because there’s nothing that puts a smile on the face of GRTs like Good Livin’, ACRT, and helping their community.

We moved as one unit through the Queen City – logs on shoulders, rucks on backs, and extra bags full of food everywhere else. We traveled first through South End to The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery and to Triple C Brewery. We continued uptown to The Rock Bottom Brewery, VBGB, and finally The Second Harvest Food Bank.

Our load got heavier with each stop, and our smiles got bigger.

Group Shots Along The Way

Nine miles, three breweries, one beer hall, and 1,976 pounds of food later – mission accomplished. #BREWRuck002 ENDEX – but not quite. VBGB offered us a great location for an after party – because why not?

Old and new friends alike had joined together to accomplish something great, and everyone’s faces were sore from smiling. Friends and family greeted us and ACRT was flowing.

Our load got heavier with each stop, and smiles got bigger!

Thanks goes out to everyone for participating in #BREWRuck002 – whether you rucked 100 pounds of food on your back across the city, or whether you donated a single can.

Thanks to our affiliates – The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, Triple C Brewery, Rock Bottom Brewery, VBGB Uptown, Warco Construction, Swimmer Insurance Agency, Charlotte Bridge Home, F3Area51, F3TheFort, and F3Highlands.

Special thanks to Charlotte Pipe And Foundry for donating our three “Can Logs”.

And finally, thanks to The Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina for working with us to plan and execute this event. We couldn’t have done this without their help and expertise.
