Red Light & Blue 004 Richmond, VA – Final Update!


Thank you for your commitment to helping make a difference with Team SPEARHEAD and Veterans and Athletes United! In less than two weeks, you will meet your team. There are some things you need to know, and these are the important details.

Where to be and what to bring:

Firearms Day

Date: Friday 10/23
Time: 8:00 am
Location: 242 Cedar Ridge Road, Troy, VA 22974
What to bring: Bring your weapon, at least 300 rounds of ammunition, safety gear, water, and a lunch (someone will also run out around lunchtime to purchase meals as needed).  Review the official packing list and make sure you’re not missing anything.  There will be a separate email sent with more details!
What’s provided: Cold bottled water and gatorade.


War Stories & Free Beer

Date: Friday 10/23
Time: 7:00 pm
Location: Virginia War Memorial (621 S. Belvidere Street, Richmond, VA 23220) – Freedom Hall
What to bring: Bring yourself, your family, and your friends.  $10 per person entry at the door.  Register early to reserve your spot, or pay at the door.  Earn that WSFB Patch!
What’s provided: Beer and light appetizers.
Parking?: There is plenty of parking at the War Memorial.


Red Light & Blue GORUCK Light

Date: Saturday 10/24
Time: 8:15 am
Location: 2805 East Clay Street, Richmond, VA 23223
What to bring: Bring yourself and the items on the packing list (see below).  There WILL be a required ruck inspection, there are NO exceptions to the packing list.
What’s provided: Good livin’!
Parking?: There is plenty of street parking around the Start Point!


Red Light and Blue After Party

Date: Saturday 10/24
Time: 3:00 pm
Location: 2805 East Clay Street, Richmond, VA 23223
What to bring: Bring yourself, your family, and your friends. All spouses and children are welcome. Extended family and friends are welcome with a $10.00 each contribution to Veterans and Athletes United.
What’s provided: Food and beverages (beer and non-alcoholic options)


GORUCK Light Packing List

Required Items (cadre will check for these items at the event – there are NO exceptions to this list):

  • Rucksack
  • Weight (4 bricks, 20 pound steel plate, or 20 pound sandbag if you are over 150 pounds; 2 bricks, 10 pound steel plate, or 10 pound sandbag if you are under 150 pounds)
  • Water (at least 3 liters recommended, to be carried in a hydration bladder or canteen)
  • Reflective belt or strips affixed to ruck
  • Government-issued photo ID
  • $20.00 emergency cab fare – bring these in coins if you can…this will build the team weight and if you don’t use it, we’ll donate the money to Veterans and Athletes United!

Comfort Items:

  • Gloves (Mechanix or similar)
  • Food – snacks, bars, etc., as you see fit
